ABOUT THE COMPETITION
"Dal Derby" provides a high-quality independent forum for talented young people interested in musical theatre, where they can showcase their singing talent in front of the general public and a recognized professional jury.
The purpose of the competition is to conduct a national stage singing competition based on knowledge beyond the requirements of the National Core Curriculum and the graduation exam, in order to discover talented students.
The organizer of the competition is
Budapest Musical School.
STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION
The competition has two rounds.
The contestants must prepare with a total of three songs for the whole competition.
International students are welcome to join the competition.
FIRST ROUND
Online round.
Application conditions:

registration at the online interface,
-
uploading a video to the online interface (which contains one of the three songs)

signed consent form uploaded to the online interface

transfer of the entry fee.
Application deadline: May 10, 2025
Entry fee: solo: HUF 6,000, duet: HUF 8,000, group: HUF 10,000

SECOND ROUND
In front of a professional jury and audience.
The participants prepare for the final with the remaining two songs, from which the jury chooses.
Conditions for participation: delivery of a musical base to the competition, payment of the entry fee
Registration fee in case of passing: solo: 6000 HUF duet: 10000 HUF, group: 12000 HUF
Date and place of the final: 2025. June 14. Lóvasút Cultural and Event Center (1121 Budapest, Zugligeti út 64.)
PRIZES
The jury will award first, second, third, to the competitors, and sponsor prizes will also be awarded.
All contestants who reach the Final will receive a commemorative certificate.
The first, second and third place winners will receive a medal and a certificate.
Main Prize: Music video shoot with studio recording and professional staff.
Special Award: Free participation in the summer intensive course of Budapest Musical School
In addition, other supporting prizes, educational and performance-related offers will be distributed.

THE JURY
MÁTYÁS VÁRKONYI
Ferenc Erkel - prize-winning composer, lyricist, conductor. The founder and leader of the bands ZéGé and Generál, the creator and founder-director of the legendary Rock Theater, he is part of many great moments in Hungarian rock history.
His musical pieces are constantly put on programs of Hungarian and foreign theatres. The number of performances registered in the Theater Database: composer-24, conductor-11, composer and conductor-5.

BEA BERECZ
Bea has been teaching in music schools since 1995.
In 1999, she graduated from the vocal department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
She participated as a singer in the Szekeres Madrigal Choir, the Operetta World Company and the National Philharmonic Choir. She has been singing in the band Apostol since 1998.
She worked with the Maladype Company, the Bárka Theatre and the Kolibri Theatre.
She is currently an employee of the Pintér Company and a vocal choach at Katona József Theatre and Örkény Theatre.
Since 2016, she has been a vocal and voice training teacher at the University of Theatre and Film.

NIKOLETT GALLUSZ
Actress, singer
Member of Madách Theatre. She stars as Grizabella in the musical "Cats", in "Mamma Mia!" she plays Donna.

KLAUDIA PÁNCZÉL
Opera singer and actress. Music has been an important part of her life since her childhood. She graduated from the University of Szeged with an excellent degree in classical singing, and won the podium of several international singing competitions. She regularly performs at opera and operetta performances.
As a mentor of Budapest Musical School's talent management program, she is experienced in talent management. She is passionate about familiarizing children with the genres of musical theatre and acts regularly in opera performances staged for young viewers.

FINTA GÁBOR
Táncművész, koreográfus, táncpedagógus.
Táncművészi diplomáját a Rotterdami Táncakadémián, táncpedagógusi diplomáját a Magyar Táncművészeti Egyetemen szerezte.
A Belga Királyi Balett (Charleroi Danse) és a Szegedi Kortárs Balett karaktertáncosa volt.
Jelenleg a Bregenzi Fesztivál táncosaként láthatja a nagyközönség.
A Budapest Musical iskola előadó-művészeti tehetséggondozó program művészeti vezetője és tánc mentora.
